This month again we will meet in the upstairs room (accessed via the further external door).  Please bring plants for sale, but not for a table show.  Since we cannot access kitchen facilities with hot water, please bring your own drink  for the mid-way break. We can provide the usual range of biscuits.  For this meeting we booked the popular John Hughes,  for a talk about "Cool Customers",  with some useful thoughts on keeping plants in cool conditions.   We will meet at the usual time of 7:30 p.m. for 8:00 p.m.   Any plants for sale will be welcome (allow 10% comission to branch).  Entrance fee is £3, a raffle ticket is £1.     May 4th 2026   7:45 pm Hatch End Tony Holder - The biology of cacti: Thriving in an arid land   1st Hatch End Scout Group are currently experiencing an issue with the Scout HQ  building and the main hall and kitchen are temporarily out-of-use.   This month again we will meet in the upstairs room (accessed via the further external door).  Please bring plants for sale, but not for a table show.  Since we cannot access kitchen facilities with hot water, please bring your own drink  for the mid-way break. We can provide the usual range of biscuits.  This May Bank Holiday Monday, we look forward to our own member, Tony Holder,  presenting a short talk about "The biology of cacti: Thriving in an arid land". This is intended  to get you thinking about how to grow your plants better, so will be followed by a  Q&A session about cultivation. We will meet at the usual time of 7:30 p.m. for 8:00 p.m.   Any plants for sale will be welcome (allow 10% comission to branch).  Entrance fee is £3, a raffle ticket is £1.     Apr 6th 2026   7:45 pm Hatch End Paul Hoxey - Galapagos Islands   1st Hatch End Scout Group are currently experiencing an issue with the Scout HQ  building and the main hall and kitchen are temporarily out-of-use.   This month again we will meet in the upstairs room (accessed via the further external door).  Please bring plants for sale this time, but not for a table show. Also, since we cannot access kitchen facilities with hot water, please bring your own drink for the mid-way break (a flask perhaps?)  although we can provide the usual range of biscuits.  We look forward to meeting Paul Hoxey from Cambridge Branch again,  presenting a "Visit to the Galapagos Islands".  OK, there are not many different cacti there, but of course there is much fascinating wildlife to be seen.  We will meet at the usual time of 7:30 p.m. for 8:00 p.m.   Any plants for sale will be welcome (allow 10% comission to branch).  Entrance fee is £3, a raffle ticket is £1.     Mar 2nd 2026   7:45 pm Hatch End BCSS National Show in 2012 - slide show   Our own Elizabeth Pendleton will be presenting one of the  BCSS Digital Slide programmes about the BCSS National Show in 2012.   1st Hatch End Scout Group are currently experiencing an issue with the Scout HQ  building and the main hall and kitchen are temporarily out-of-use.   Rather than cancel our meeting, we plan to try out an upstairs room for this month’s meeting.  The stairs are quite steep and the amount of space is unclear, so we ask people  not to bring any plants for sale this time, nor any plants for a table show.   Also, since we cannot access our catering box or kitchen facilities with hot water,  please bring your own refreshments for the mid-way break - a flask perhaps?  Entrance fee is £3, a raffle ticket is £1.    Feb 2nd 2026   7:45 pm Hatch End A novice explorer in Argentina  A talk about a tour looking for cacti with Ian Woolnough in some spectacular scenery, presented byJulian Cooke, secretary of Berkhamsted Branch.    Entrance fee is £3, a raffle ticket is £1.   Any plants for sale will be welcome (allow 10% comission to branch).  Please bring along your plants that are doing well for us to admire  in the four table show classes:  Mammillaria Group; Aloe Group;  any cactus; any succulent (all restricted to less than 6 1/4" pots).
